College
of International Education (College of International Cultural
Exchange) is the educational organ specialized in training foreign
students and overseas Chinese students. It was one of the first
group of schools approved by Ministry of Education to enroll
foreign students. It is confirmed by The Overseas Chinese Affairs
Office of the State Council to be one of 22 Chinese education
bases in China. It is also Dalian’s Chinese Test of Proficiency
(HSK) testing center.
College of International Education insists on learning Chinese
with the aim of opening to the world, using Chinese as a means
of putting up the bridges of friendship. Since it was established
in 1985 it has enrolled and trained more than 10000 foreign
and overseas Chinese students that came from more than20 countries
and regions. After they have finished their studies, many of
the students have played a significant role in the fields of
diplomacy, economy, culture and many other spheres of life.
Currently, there are more than 600 foreign students coming from
10 countries: 8 of them are studying at the master level, more
than 70 at the bachelor level and more than 500 are Chinese
language students (at advanced, intermediate, elementary and
basic level). The college today has a specialized course on
Chinese language at the undergraduate level (divided into Chinese
and culture course and business Chinese) and at the same time
enrolls students of education, psychology, Chinese literature,
law, physical education, history, tourism, art, in total 65
fields of study at the undergraduate level, 97 at the master
level and 13 at the doctoral level. The college has already
formed a system of education of foreign students that is more
specialized, with more disciplines and a greater level of success.
The strength of the trained teachers is abundant, with great
experience in teaching. Today there are more than 80 teachers
at concurrent posts; among them, there is 1 professor, 11 vice
professors, 12 lecturers, 3 doctors and 11 teachers that have
worked abroad as teachers of Chinese. School has a modern teaching
equipment, such as reading rooms with books and reference materials
and classrooms with multimedia audio aids. Additionally, the
college offers various after-school activities and from time
to time organizes activities for students to practise Chinese
or go sightseeing, encouraging students to, while learning the
language, better understand the condition of China, its history
and culture. |
